Just Merveilleux?

Life at № 42

Back to the nitty gritty: politics and religion

I’ve decided it would be ridiculous, impossible even, for me to maintain a blog that just talks about the more pretty and pleasant aspects of life. So there.

I was reading The Guardian today, when I came across an article that referenced a letter sent to Irish Times journalist, Una Mullally. While some people look at a letter like that as simply being vile- I actually think it’s wonderful because it exposes the true character of the anti’s (anti-gay, anti-women, anti-racial minorities, anti-civil rights etc.) Judge for yourselves:

This was for real? There’s just one word for whoever wrote that letter – sociopath. -shiver-

It takes a very special person to be able to manage sexism, homophobia and racism in such a short letter. Now aren’t you glad she’s not your neighbour? 😀

Glad does not even come close! She’s like a caricature or everything that’s nasty and mean spirited in the human race. yuck…

She could well be! For every creature deludedly self important enough to express those views out loud how many more nurse these horrible thoughts quietly to themselves.

It’s probably just as well the odd psychopath lets loose every now and again, if nothing else but to remind us they are out there.

No one asked you to avoid politics and religion 😀 So there.

But doesn’t it only resonate with those of us who have a certain mindset? Other people will agree with those views. Sadly. And happily feel they are not alone and that there are still some sensible people in the world. Unlike the rest of us who are spawn of the Devil.

I’m not sure. The reaction to this sort of thing is progressively more negative. A trend I hope continues.

It must be really bad to be black.
I think the author of that piece is in the deep end of insanity and hate

        Hey.
That letter writer has problems. Lack of intelligence is the least of them

Mak’s right. There is a level of insanity and hate that leaves one simply gawping.
    And they are classified normal.

Or can it be explained, Mr. Ark? What’s your take on: The Religion of the Poor: Escape or Creative Force?

From a brief peruse it mirrors what has always been suggested: the less intelligence/understanding the greater tendency to defer to the supernatural.
I agree with the conclusion and in ome ways it could have been lifted from a few pages of the Old Testament – Yahweh is angry.

As I mentioned to Victoria, it’s about time the likes of Finkelstein and Wolpe went full-on -public across the board and began to explain the realities of countless millenia of ignorance compounded by religious lies.
Or … maybe this is how we are and it’s simply a ”phase we’re going through”, as parents are wont to say about their kids’ odd behaviour.

Oh welcome back.I hoped you wouldn’t be able to continue to remain silent in the face of the Irish issue. It’s a shame that ?? whether it be male or female hasn’t worked out that there’s no campaign to make the whole world homosexual as he/she seems to infer. And how odd for a so called intelligent person not to be able to work out that two people may be able to adopt a child who needs a home.

Frankly religion has always been an abomination in my eyes but now maybe it’s adherents are taking first place if they’re all venomous like that one.And if ever you find a potion that you’ve taken to make you ‘Gay’, please ensure this person gets some as I’d love to see their mind and needs struggle with their beliefs.
I hope Ireland votes overwhelmingly to allow gay marriages and pokes a finger in the Pope’s eye.
    Hugs

I also got shivers – & I’m still trying to work out a proper reply, but words fail me. How on earth can people be so horrid? They never will have much understanding for others, for all their ‘holier than thou’ attitudes.

Some of the vilest humans on this earth are those who claim to believe in some all loving god. There is no stronger message for non-belief to me than those who write letters like the one above.

Well, yes. I saw an art work in a gallery which fitted my mood and desire beautifully today; so I returned to it and luxuriated in it, loving the stone and the depiction of the hair and the hand on the arm and the hand by the neck-

but I did wonder about her/him, for a moment.

Yikes! That really is one hateful person. Sadly the comments section of many LGBTQ stories is filled with bigoted trolls. Thankfully such people are finding themselves in the minority as time goes on, at least in most Western Countries.

Thoroughly agree with you. Let them speak. Let them shout everything that’s on their minds. Let them example who, and what, exactly they are.
