It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood

Women sporting off-white Fascinators.

Well, yesterday was, anyway. Today it’s cold. Thank you all for the good wishes. My apologies if I didn’t answer you personally, I was a bit distraught. I have excellent news. After surgery and then follow-up surgery on the 24th, Mike is doing very well. He looks like he’s been through a Syrian torture facility and there’s something that looks like a fascinator strapped to his head – but he’s in no pain and most importantly everything that needed to be removed is gone. So a bit of recovery and life returns to normal.

I still don’t want to talk about the details except to say modern medicine is pretty magnificent. I’ve been on a roller coaster of emotions; about that I will write soon as it was excruciating.

Happy Boxing Day!

Oh yes, and do watch the Mr. Rogers film if you have a chance because it’s lovely.

The holiday season seems a magnet for stressful times. Warm tidings during this last week of the ‘teens decade. May the twenties be a return to roaring revelry.

Happy Boxing Day to you too. I hope Mike has the speediest of recoveries. Hopefully the new year is boringly wonderful and you guys have an amazing year. 🙂

Thanks! They remove his “fascinator” in 3 days, and then life is basically back to normal + a few scars, which is fine.

So glad all is well with Mike! The Mr. Rogers documentary, Won’t You Be My Neighbor, is also really good. How fare the houndies?🐾🐾

The dogs are doing well, because of the stress we’ve been going on long walks with them in the woods which they love. Maya’s progress is slow but steady.

Wishing the best of luck to Mike, and keeping you both in my prayers. Thank you for showing what a fascinator is, because I had not a clue.

And now I am a bit wiser.

Such good news to read today – I’ve just awaken in the land of the fascinators; (and can hear the magpies, kookaburras and doves outside my window) little granddaughters are getting Christmas again today. . . :). You’ve just got the best gift yet, Mr. M! Glad tidings!

It was a spectacular gift. Enjoy your holidays! Is your family in a safe part of Australia (as in no fires)?

We’re actually headed up to New South Wales (closer to the fires!) in a few days. We’re going to be right on the ocean so I guess we can always take refuge there. .. :). (Presently we’re outside Melbourne, on the Port Philip Bay)

I knew the fashions of the 1940s would come back (my favorite decade for fashion). Good news about surgery is good indeed.

Rarely comment, but wanted to say happy for your good news. Was in your area in the Languedoc in October, simply stunning…and great wine. Loved the St Chinian the best…

-massive hugs- That’s fantastic news, Pinky. Please pass on our best wishes to Mike. As for you, I can only guess at how awful this time must have been. Be kind to yourself.

Thanks so much, Andrea! The experience was terrifying. I don’t think anything in life had ever scared me this much. When the person at the centre of our universe is as risk it’s like the whole world is collapsing around us. Just awful. But anyway, all is well now 🙂

Thanks, Helen. I might have to go straight to a diet. We had no festivities but I did a whole lot of over-eating to ease the anxiety. I’ve gained 3 kg in a month.

I’m sorry I missed this, you aren’t showing up as having posted in my feed at all and I’ve had no notifications either. I just checked and WP hasn’t unfollwed behind my back tsk. Great news though, I always think it’s harder for those looking on when it comes to things like this, I’m so glad he’s come out of it well ❤

Thanks! He’s doing great. Nurses have been coming to the house every day for the post-op care and this week they were teaching me how to care for the operated zone so I can takeover next week.

I’ve been getting nothing in my Reader from TPA for yonks. I assumed something was up, and it seems like it was. Was. Very glad to hear it’s working out, Mr Pink, genuinely (along with everyone else).

Thanks, Hariod. I’m still off kilter, but I suppose that’s normal 🙂 In more ways than one. It all happened so quickly I guess I’m dazed. We went from a routine exam, to suddenly this is life threatening and must be removed immediately, to everything is fine again. And having to make all sorts of plans and preparations in between. Utterly exhausting.

Yes! Surgery went well and the recovery is going very well too; But the thing with this sort of intense stress is it builds up and sort of leaves you dazed. I’m obviously better, but still dazed.
