This is an artist I did not know, but isn’t his work gorgeous? Apparently he exhibited with Bonnard, Lebasque and Picasso at the Galerie Th. Briant, and one of his works is at the Musée Eugène Boudin in Honfleur. There’s currently a wonderful seascape by him for sale by lesatamanes.com for a very reasonable price:
We’ve been busy this past week furnishing apartment 6 in building II. The tenant that was there got a job in Toulouse and had to go; not long after that a Spanish couple who’s relocating to Mazamet for work contacted us asking if we could provide a furnished apartment. We said yes and we’re nearly done. Ikea features heavily, but it looks fine. They arrive next week, which means we’re at 100% occupancy again. Hurrah 🙂

I did fix the off center light. I was worried you wouldn’t be getting any sleep. Hehe. Everybody is moved in and settled. Time flies. They were in it the first of October. Winter was a little tough and been putting in yard and garden space.

I got lazy. I am pretty proud of the kitchen though. Black marble tops and a dimpled copper farm sink. Pictures don’t really do it justice though. Its all made out of repurposed barn wood. I’ll email you

Love it!!! The materials work really well together. GRIDS!!!!!!!! The small mosaic tiles meeting the larger black tiles, meeting the larger wood grids! And then meeting the floor grids. Excellent.

Thanks. It worked out pretty well. With the pipe supports, sink and tile this entire kitchen was under $1000. I think I could build these for a living. Not too technical, built in place, and it took me one day. I really like the way it functions too. She wanted something she could climb on the counters to get to high cabinets. The Lowe shelves work like stairs.
We are building a copper awning to go over the sink and window too, this summer.

Thank you. I really like it. That empty space is now a multi-toned, oversized kitchen table made out of refinished barn wood too. It’s pretty sexy. I beat the hell out of it with a heavy chain to dimple it, sand stain and seal. It’s pretty cool.

You think? I suppose I’m probably de-sensitised to heavy frames. From the 40’s back, with the exception of the Georgian period, most framing was rather substantial.

Thank you so much. I wasn’t sure whether I could make such a contact. I am now in mazamet staying at maison de l’arnette and have first viewing with reberga this pm. Looking for 2/3 bedrooms with enough garden to put in a swimming pool!

Reberga have a great selection, and Pascale who will probably be the agent doing the viewing with you, is very nice and helpful. Our approach when looking was to contact all the agents which worked out as each one of them had things in exclusivity. I did not know of him, but Leo did…I would prefer the still life to the seascape, but that is down to the colours, I think.

The reds are sublime. I prefer that one too. I’d love to see the nudes, as they say those were his prize winners, but I can’t find a picture of any of them online.

It’s a more contemporary piece than our normal style, but we’re attempting to end up with a more transitional overall decor. Let me see if this works:

Gorgeous! Wonderful colours. It’s reminiscent of classic Asian works. Koi was very popular in Japanese and Chinese art.

She’s an interesting lady. Iranian heritage, uses nature a great deal for inspiration. Some of her work tends more towards realism, but always interesting use of pattern and color. NE Mpls has a vibrant art community in a converted grain elevator that houses hundreds of studios. I stopped in during “Art A Whirl” a few weeks ago but wanted to buy when we could talk with her. Definitely an artistic temperament 😉

I was tired of Branyan the first time I ever read anything he had to say. But, on documenting his hate speech, I just had no time this past month. It was tax returns time here which kept me busy, and I’m setting up a new company to handle art sales 🙂

That’s exceedingly kind of you 🙂 I have the impression exposure and taste are directly connected. The more we see (and compare) of art, the more we’re able to distinguish uniqueness and artistic ability.

Am I the only one who prefers the landscape? It’s because when I see paintings, I tend to think where it would go in our house – & the seascape would look good in our bedroom (with a simpler frame).
