Apparently this is in a fantastic location with the garden being completely private (facing a green area). It needs updating but is a very well built, solid house. As most of the bourgeois properties in this area, it’s more substantial than what you get in other parts of France. Not whimsical and airy like in Provence or rustic and casual like in the Charente, certainly not showy like in Paris. Here things are quietly dignified, leaning towards discretion.
… and that hallway could be amazing!
Is that the front or the back? And are you thinking of buying it????

That’s the back, which faces a river, but very high up so no risk of flooding. I’d definitely consider buying, but Mike thinks we don’t need any more responsibilities…

He doesn’t read it 🙂 …and no. He went along with my ideas for buildings 1 and , so I won’t push for more. He’s right in that we don’t really need any more properties as what we have more than supports number 42 🙂

What is the roof like?

Almost all the roofs here are classic terracotta tiles:

I don’t know. If what we saw is the back of the house, why didn’t they post a picture of the front of the house? Notice no kitchen picture, probably for obvious reasons. I don’t think it was a very good job of taking pictures. In practically every picture we see a fireplace and a window.
There is room for improvement in the way they are marketing this, the one or two sentence description leaves much to be desired, it’s very brief. Now if I was marketing this I would have done a drawing of the first and second floors, showing the room layout with some dimensional lines and what type of flooring is in the room and simply taken a photo of the drawings and posted them as a picture. The particular pics they posted give no clue at all as to the layout of the rooms. Yes it would take time to measure the rooms and then to do a drawing, but if you want to sell it and earn a realtors commission that extra work would come back to you as a faster sale. Is there a river view from the second story bedrooms? If so it would have been nice to mention that in their description of the property.

I know!!! They’re a disaster at marketing here – which I think has a direct impact on the market. Sometimes they take pictures with flash when it would take just minutes to open windows and shutters and get some nice natural day light. They’re light years behind US real estate marketing standards.

Have you ever given thought to becoming a real estate agent? It would kind of scratch that itch you seem to have relative to housing.
