My Mazamet

Life at № 42

C’est-à-dire ?”

And the article ends with Si vous êtes propriétaire d’une maison de maître sur Mazamet et la Vallée du Thoré et intéressé par le travail de Sonia Servant CALL HER…

So number 42 is one of those three houses mentioned in the article. After some deliberation today we decided to go ahead and let Mme. Servant come for a visit and photography session. I’m always unsure about balancing private and public (a blog with a small audience doesn’t count.) After the last house got publicity we had the occasional stranger just knocking on the door and asking to look inside – which I didn’t love. This is of course a very different thing, and these houses are part of the fabric, the history of the town, so there’s a certain responsibility attached.

It is so difficult to know whether to allow cameras into your home and I am sorry that you had the indignity of strangers rocking up at your door for a tour of your previous home. I am sure you will be fine this time. And thank you for sharing the article which I certainly would not have stumbled on by myself 😊

I imagine (and hope) in a town setting it’s much less likely that anyone think they can ring the bell 😀

Nice to get recognition for your work on the house. And six years of French in middle and high school won’t get me through the article, but I did grasp most of it 😉 Well done!

The merit is for the people who created it – we’re just preserving what was already done 🙂

Well that’s something. We’ve done both – created And preserved. Both have merit.

Always got cameras and news people in my home. It was tough to deal with at first, but, being the first ever self-awarded Nobel Prize winner brings with it a lot of attention. I knew that when I accepted the award. And I’ve learned to live with it.

For how much? My last two properties were sold to Russians, so I’m ready to go 😀

I knew about the last one. Appears you have a Russian fetish. And why not. If you have WiFi and looooots of power outlets, plus 453 postal boxes, I’m sure you’ll be hearing from them very soon.

Isn’t it strange. In Spain you kind of made history. In Mazamet, you’re part of history, or at least the house is. We really are just custodians of place aren’t we?

In Spain the architectural concept was all Mike’s – I just did the interiors. Except for Villa Trianon, that was me… 🙂
And yes, we just get to care for property for a while, and with a bit of luck and effort we can hopefully have a positive impact on it.
