Is Jordan Peterson the stupid man’s smart person? – via Macleans.ca

Tabatha Southey delves into University of Toronto professor Jordan Peterson’s work and finds his secret sauce—and what makes his work unnerving

As far as I can tell, Jordie—and not the cool “Geordi” from Star Trek either— rewards the devotion of his Patreon patsies with regular rants against “political correctness,” and relationship advice I can only call “Angry Oprah Says.” For USD $29.99, Petersonites can get access to the Self Authoring Suite (a USD $119.92 value!). Those looking for further opportunities to give him money can pay USD $9.99 for “100 question phrases” which “can be found, along with similar question sets, elsewhere on the web” so that they might learn how your personality compares to 10,000 others.

One of the best articles I’ve read in a good long while. I laughed all the way through.

It’s embarrassing to think that piece of bigoted white-supremacist trash is teaching in a Canadian university.

The shame is it’s a terrible waste. He has some interesting ideas that he could probably develop were he not so invested in making money by exploiting the deplorables.

“Exploiting the deplorables” asks for a bunch of silly mash-ups like “exploring the deflorables” or “employing the exploitables”.

He does not like trans people much. We demand that he ignores the Plain Truth, apparently. It’s amazing, the rubbish people come out with as excuses to be rude to us, and the lengths they go to avoid going back on that.

Trans people are easy targets. I actually found some of his ideas interesting a while back, but when one delves deeper – well, there’s nothing there. He’s devised a very clever way to present information so as to give the appearance of complex thought, but it simply isn’t.
His comments on gay marriage were hilarious. Cultural Marxists? What now? LOL

I am sorry to hear that you have no woman to “bind you with regards to your sexual activity”. You’re missing out on a whole lot of fun.

You have no idea how many women and men have tried to bind me. Some have even wanted to gag me – but I’m just not into those things 😀

Still quite a bit short from DanTDM with his 17,702,529 followers. Somebody should tell him that he could get a lot more popular by playing video games all day and commenting them on youtube.

I wonder how the USD $119.92 value is determined with such precision. I bet, at $119.93 value, the sales would plummet, but $119.92 is just right. There must be solid science behind those numbers!.. Oh, wait. $29.99 is exactly $25.008% of $119.92! That makes sense now. I knew $119.92 was not a random number! I’m surprised that those who pay within 2 hours from seeing the ad don’t get a T-shirt or a mug.

It’s amazing how much people get paid for doing “blah-blah-blah”. It’s also sad that professors prostitute themselves like this. It looks, people get degrees not to make research these days. They get a degree to get credibility for their politically charged blibber-blubber. Then, instead of research papers, they publish controversial books causing brouhaha among scientists and lay people alike. The books don’t have to be peer-reviewed, of course, and books are sold in many more copies than research papers. The “neuroscientist” Sam Harris with his Islamophobic diatribes is another example. Interesting business model.

Absolutely. It’s exactly the same method. They say things that are sufficiently politically controversial so that enough division is caused to generate publicity. And people listen because of their academic credentials.

Yes. 😦 It used to be that those ‘who can’t do, teach’. Now, apparently, those who can’t teach become celeb writers. Give us all a bad name…

No. They wave (i.e. are ‘wavier’) as they are unable to scream in pain. In fact, lobsters don’t have vocal chords, and the noise you hear echoing off the walls of your fabulous kitchen is in fact air trapped in the stomach and forced through the mouth (after emerging from ‘boiling waters’). 😛

This guy’s a pussy. He’s a bigot who doesn’t have the balls to be up front about it so he hides behind semantics and word play. Never heard of ’em til I read the article here, but, based on what I just read, I’ve got no respect for him. Give me a KKK card-trotting member every day over a pussy like this guy. I’ll still hate ’em, but I’ll at least have respect for their honesty while I’m doin’ it. Christ, when will a-holes like this guy realize there is no law against being a bigot. You do not have to hide your opinions behind colorful word play and sentence bending. If you hate someone because you can’t stand their gender, sexual orientation, or skin color, just fuckin’ say so. If you’re in love with the white race and white males in particular, say so. Yeah you’ll be despised and hated by many, many people, but you’ll at least be honest with the world and with yourself. As much as I hate straight forward bigots, fuckers like this I hate far more. College professor my fat white ass. Cowardly little pussy is more like it, and one who inspires and entertains far too many idiots just like him based on the money he’s making. Like Shakespeare once said to his tailor, Bert Snudinberry, “Bert, thar ain’t nuttin’ I dislike more’n a racist who’s ‘fraid to fess up ta’ whut ‘e ez. Hey, methinks you’ve taken me pants up a tad bit too much! Go easy, will ya’!”

There’s all kinds of weird stuff that’s supposed to end civilized life as we know it, but we’re all still here. This guy’s seriously telling people that pronoun use is going to threaten culture. And he still has his professorship.

His existence in higher learning is actually more evidence of poisoning students’ minds than his message.

And isn’t it amusing that almost like clockwork, five minutes after announcing the *End of Mankind*, the person who announced it tries to sell you *End of Mankind Insurance*?

Excellent piece, made my week! While I’m proud that Canada has diversity of views and it’s still okay to rail against the cult of the politically correct, clearly Jordy is not worthy of his tenure. I hadn’t read McLeans’s in ages, thanks for reminding me that it still offers great writing!

I was still laughing for quite a while after reading it. The question is, if this sort of analysis is out there and readily available, why are publications like The Guardian giving him any airtime? The unfortunate answer is: for profit.

No, long before that. I like his way of questioning perception, but his Marxist Conspiracy Theory is imbecilic. I was even surprised C4 gave him that sort of air time. CN had a whole range of things to challenge him on and didn’t, which was a shame.

There was no verifiable evidence of him being a racist in that article, just innuendo. He is a classical liberal, just listen to him.
You are radicalizing what in the late 90s would have been banal observations from moderate Democrats.
I don’t get why he’s an avatar of the alt-right, they seem to be flocking to someone who doesn’t share their views just because he points out the obvious that young men seem kind of lost today.

And his racism and machismo are built into his narratives. If you take the time to actually read what he says, he denies the concept of white privilege – something so exceptionally obvious it takes an imbecile or a racist to dismiss. He does the same with feminism with the hilarious argument that the gender pay gap doesn’t exist… then going on to explain why it exists. It would be funny were it not tragic people are paying to listen to it.
