What fun to watch. The cast must have been exhausted after performing that scene. They all spoke so clearly too (my hearing isn’t very good, tinnitus & getting older means I often struggle to hear actors on TV & at some theatres). It’s a play we haven’t seen, so I hope the RSC do it again soon. Does Mike like watching his younger self on stage?

No! He refuses. Can´t stand it. And he stops me if he can help it. And yes, it was wonderful how people enunciated, wasn´t it? Now it´s like they chew words instead of speaking them.

Excellent version of this play. I believe I saw this whole production years ago on the PBS station here in Chicago.

Really, honest to gawd, I did not understand one single word of what anyone said. I can generally get an English accent if the people talk slow enough, but this dialog was so rapid I was lost.

I don’t know, but it certainly caught on. Half of British television is now done in mumbling- and it’s exhausting!

Great fun. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Shakespeare as a musical but it’s perfect!

That was sort of a golden period of creativity in theatre. Between the RSC and the Glasgow Citizen’s they redefined what theatre could be.

Many, including Mike, spoke more than sang – and the dancing was all thanks to Gillian Lynne, the brilliant choreographer who also did Cats, Phantom and Beauty & the Beast 🙂

Wow…I am impressed. I would never have guessed that any of the cast, Mike included, were less than professional ‘artistes’ as well as actors.

I recognize Judi Dench. But sheesh! I can’t stand dialog like a battle scene. I’d have hated Shakespeare. Oh, wait. I DO hate Shakespeare.

Yes, I’ve been keeping an eye on it. It’s in essence a failed project, as it should be. In more than a year I think she’s attracted less than 50 followers to that website’s twitter page.
