Exceptional weather

17º C and sunny. Even warmer than the last New Year’s we spent in Spain. How much alcohol does it take for someone to get alcohol poisoning? It must really be a lot because I haven’t had it ever… Happy 2018! May you all get alcohol poisoning!!! 😀

It’s -20 C here right now. New Year’s celebrations outdoors are cancelled in some places because it will be -30 C without windchill. I think it rained last New Year’s.

French tv news did a block on your cancelled events in Canada today 😀 There’s a cold front up north here too, we were just lucky down here.

Ha ha! I think the only reason they cancelled is because they know alcohol and cold will result in death for sure. We have outdoor winter events other times when it’s really cold.

I’ll drink to that! Our high temperature today won’t reach 17 degrees and that’s in Fahrenheit!

Here in Nova Scotia, we are getting more snow. . . it’s been snowing for four days, I think. 🙂 Hubby is out ploughing and it’s minus 13 right now and we’ve had minus double digits for quite a stretch. At least it’s not windy! (I love it!. .. yes, I’m a little sick in the head)
Happy New Year to you and yours, Mr. M!!

How will you be preparing your cod? Was that for tonight or for Christmas?

We’ve already had our cod feast. . .tomorrow it’s fish chowder for New Year’s Dinner (haddock and scallops) — the table’s already set! 🙂 We’re out for a rousing night of Auction 45’s (card game) tonight at the neighbour’s house . . . (I’ll bet you’re wondering how we can contain our excitement!)

It’s about 6c and drizzling here in Nottingham. Also a bit smoky as I’m burning all our ‘confidential’ waste, because our shredder had a sulk and refuses to shred any more credit card statements. It wouldn’t tale much alcohol to poison me, sad to say. 2 glasses of wine and I fall asleep and invariably get a headache. Happy 2018…& I’m already looking forward to some interesting/stimulating/amusing blogs from you next year. xxx (kisses for the dogs).

6 isn’t too bad. That’s what it was like here most of last week… Are you burning all these papers in the fireplace?

No, outside in the chimenea. We don’t have a proper fireplace as our house has a very narrow flu, just sufficient for a gas fire. Our gas fire looks vaguely like a real one, though the ceramic ‘coals’ are a bit shabby and need replacing.

I want a chimenea!!! Do you use it often? Mike says we’d never use it.

I’m jealous. It’s about 12 degrees Fahrenheit here in Chicago. Just got back from walking my dog and it feels like my face fell off. Time to open the wine!!!

It is about to rain here…which will save me spending an hour watering the garden.
    Warm, though….
I have never had alcohol poisoning eiher…which seems, in hindsight, a miracle.

Here in the Pacific North West it’s about 2°C…but at least it’s green. We might even get up to 4° and a wee bit of sun. Yes I hate you and am jealous.
Thanks for your entertaining and thought provoking posts….

More World Weather Weirding. The Jet Stream meanders like a writhing cobra, great loops of its body dipping north and south. Those complaining about the frigid cold should remember that with such drastic dips in temperature come the killing freezes that wipe out invasive insects.

Yeast. Gotta love ’em. Humans are so damn lucky to be able to consume the byproduct of some tiny microscopic beastie — and get high off it. Here’s to another great year of fermentation!

Yes, delightfully mild. Am in short sleeves for first time in weeks. Just wandered out for an hour to the local cafe to support it. Had fascinating and controversial conversation with very inebriated ( but pleasant) gentleman re first and second world wars and impact on le vrai sud. Fascinating.

Dog no longer speaking to us as We Went Out And Didn’t Take Her.

Now home for quiet consumption of chicken courgette and mushroom risotto.
This is the lowest key New Year’s Eve we have ever had.
    Good wine . Bliss.

Been gorgeous all day and as the Nutters start letting off the usual year end battery of crackers and fireworks I would wish for some serious rain as we had yesterday which included marble size hail!
One of our dogs is a nervous wreck every New Year’s Eve.

Wishing you and yours everything of the best, Pink.

Happy New Year Pink! -15 C here. Unfortunately America is more important so our cold weather proves that global warming is a hoax. So I have a lot of reason to doubt your 17 C!

The first day of the new year is drawing to a close here in Aotearoa New Zealand and at 8:30 pm it’s 27℃ (81℉). That’s down on the 30℃ (86℉) it was a few hours ago. And it feels like the humidity is approaching 100%. Roll on autumn.

I over-indulged on some sweet reds, and a little of something else, but it took me all the next day to figure out that most of my headache was due to my cat allergy.

I’ve noticed, the weather patterns are the same around the globe. We’ve had a couple days of gorgeous weather in Oregon as well. It’s not warm, but it is very sunny, with gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. When there is a snowfall in Europe, we also have lots of rain or snow in the U.S. NW.

Try drinking a 0.7L bottle of vodka with a buddy. That’ll do it.

    Happy New Year!

My satisfaction was short lived. This evening it rained and rained. But I did read somewhere that this January and February are going to be approx. 1 degree C warmer than usual.

You CURSED the weather by boasting about the sunshine and warmth. So it is entirely your fault that the non existent weather gods have now dumped water on us for days.

The sun has finally come out again today. Please do not mention this.
