My Mazamet

Ai Funghi

Here I am, a month or so in.

This seems to be working for me. Intellectually what I knew I wanted was, shall we say, a divorce from the ego. Getting to that point has required what at times was more than a microdose. Setting aside the ego allows for one to see the world in a whole other way. A kinder way. One that’s not constantly at the mercy of the survival mechanisms and evolutionary strategies that underpin almost everything we do.

Where work is concerned the experience has been extremely positive. My focus is better than usual.

Any induced paranoia associated to it?

Man, now I’m hungry for pizza. I believe, and since I’m American, that makes me right, that mushrooms, or the chemical in them, act as serotonin receptor agonists. They were studied as antidepressants but were given up on as people sought them out as recreational drugs as well. Never tried them, but, as I’m somewhat already predisposed to paranoia, cause of the government always following me around, I’m not sure they’d make me feel better. One day, perhaps I will. 🙂

    • The substance that works with depression is Psilocybin 😀

Ah, yes. Now I remember. I read up on this at some point years ago. Now, I gotta get that pizza. I wonder how many mushrooms were consumed back in the day before folks learned A.) Which ones just tasted good; B.) Which ones killed you, and C.) Which ones got you high? “Well god dammit! We just lost Emil and Teddy at the mushroom taste-test festival. When, oh, when, will we ever figure this out?!”

Yes, I can see how it could help w/depression. But I can also see how it could go south if one were not in a receptive state of mind and somewhere grounded in nature. The two times I did this mushroom were different – one was beyond phenomenal and the other, so-so. The timing and setting and intentions I had were different, which really affected my experience. And it was my experience that if you ask the mushroom to clarify some particular thing or aspect of yourself, be prepared. It will show you this in a way that might be startling, but will also help resolve it, big-time. Sending you good intentions and wishes from one magical place to another ❤

Even thought I am a chemist, I am also old school. To see things as they really are, sit, be silent, open your eyes and suspend judgment. Things are always simpler and more complex than we think. This is made difficult in that in order to use the survival mechanism called imagination, we construct a simulacrum of reality in out thoughts and then that becomes our reality. This is why “reality checks” must be made because so many mistakes are made in constructing our own personal realities. GOMHHN (I just invented this one: means “getting off my high horse now” If you like it you may use it free of charge … further proof my “American Card” is frayed around the edges.)

I tend to agree. People with certain past emotional experiences can have difficulty with meditation- I have- but I feel that it is better to reach these states of awareness without chemical stimulus, either by pill or directly from something that grows.

    • I think we’re too wrapped up in the reactive state to be able to see the world for what it is. At least that’s how I feel regarding myself. The first time I was ever able to sort of take a breath and a step back was with MDMA.
