A boy can dream 🙂 It made GBP 63,650 which is USD 96,748. I recently started researching cobalt glass pieces for a client (who wants to sell a chandelier) and sort of fell in love with the look. The deep blue looks exceptional with gilding and/or silver. Good ones fetch substantial sums at auction. The one below is listed at 1st Dibs at just under 20 thousand euros.
Speaking of chandeliers, I just got a pair of bell jar lanterns for the hall at number 42.
That is a nice blue

The blue is lovely, Pinky, but the price tag takes my breath away. Is it /really/ worth that much? Or is the pricing simply a case of what the market will allow??
Btw the bell jars are more my style too – simple but elegant. I’ll babysit them for you if you ever need to get away for a decade or two…:p

This is one of the cases where I think there’s a good rationale for the price. The quality/finesse/rarity equation for good cobalt glass work is solid. More solid than for some types of exceedingly expensive Chinese porcelain or Americana. Or celebrity related items which have value just because they belonged to a particular person.

Yeah, some of the prices you hear bandied about could make your hair stand on end.

lovely. I have a thing for blue glass and often end up with bottles of questionable spirits thanks to that. I have a nifty blue Ball and Claw bitters bottle that is evidently some type of reproduction.
