… if you happen to be in Paris this exhibition is worth a look. If you’re not, then look up the painter. He died at 28 and was one of the early impressionists. I love his work.

Thanks for the intro to this artist. What a loss. The range of his creativity is breathtaking for one so young. Strong undercurrents of ‘tristesse’ I feel.

The portraits are very penetrating – whether HD realism or the more 2D naive ones. That’s quite a feat to pull off. Such flair. See, Mr.M, you have got me thinking about him.

And it is a beautiful painting. Really does make you wonder what he might have produced, had he managed to survive that war. Why oh why do artists go to war? Such a waste. Or should I say, more of a waste than normal. 😦

Yes! Also, it’s apparently okay if someone ugly dies because whenever a pretty woman dies one of the things people say is “awww, and she was so pretty!”

Yep, unattractive hardworking poor people can die and it’s not worth mentioning. Pretty, rich, pointless people bite the dust and it’s a tragedy…
You know what also pisses me off, it’s when someone who was an utter asshole dies and no one says anything but how good they were. No! Admit they were an asshole and that we won’t miss them!

Beautiful pictures. I wish I could hang one in my living room.
When I bought a new apartment I tried to find some nice art to hang on the walls, but everything I found basically looked the same. One place only had pictures of clowns. Ugh. *Shudders*
Anything nice is too damn expensive.

I seem to remember that the Fabre in Montpellier has some kind of connection with Bazille – memory is a little sketchy – or perhaps it was a temporary exhibition?
