Saving the Temple Neuf
Our mayor has launched a fundraising initiative aimed at restoring three of the more important religious buildings in town. One of them is the Temple Neuf, also known as the Grand Temple- which you all already know as it sometimes appears in pictures of number 42. As a side note I think the mayor is just fantastic.

The idea is to make it into something non-religious for the community. An idea I endorse wholeheartedly! Personally I think it would probably make a fantastic venue for concerts. And so convenient for me 🙂

Before I would conclude that it is “the perfect place for music” I would at least solicit the opinion of some knowledgeable about acoustics. Even concert halls designed to have good acoustics come out wrong and have to be “saved.”
I am all for celebrating good architecture but will the religious messages be left behind? Will public funds be going in support of that religion? Is that acceptable in France?.

Acoustics are fairly straight-forward 🙂 I think only very slight modifications would be needed to make the space ideal. Angled interior side walls should do it, which would also provide an opportunity to insulate the building.
The building now belongs to the town hall, so I think giving it a non-religious purpose is the best option.

We according to someone in government (who’s name I can’t remember) the reason the younger generation can’t afford housing in our overpriced market is because of their love of smashed avo, so I’ll say thin, but still living with your parents… Perhaps you’d rather be fat! 😀

Ha! Now I’ve realised I can hardly point the finger at coffee wankers, the man of the house and I each keep different kinds of coffee in the house, I can’t stand the bitterness of the Nescafé he prefers… 😜

Horrible isn’t it. 😦 The only positive was that he was caught immediately. (And I guess another positive was that people didn’t immediately and incorrectly assume it was terrorism and cause some kind of social media panic.)

Yes. I think we [as in the people who were on the scene] handled themselves really well. Another thing that helped stop the panic was that one of the police gave an update fairly early on and stressed that it wasn’t a terror related event. ‘Just’ your average nutter. Makes you wonder how many of the genuine terror events are carried out by people just as mentally disturbed who are being used by the real terrorists. 😦

It’s always a case of perception, isn’t it? More people die in car crashes each year than in 10 years worth of plane crashes, yet its the plane crash we remember and fear. 😦

Unfortunately this is related to an issue that we are all far more likely to be affected by, domestic violence. Terrorism is far less likely to touch any of our lives.
