Racist troll guilty of harassing Labour MP with antisemitic posts | The Guardian
A racist internet troll has been found guilty of harassing a Labour MP with a series of anti-Jewish rants sent after the jailing of a fellow far-right extremist.
Joshua Bonehill-Paine, who turned 24 on Wednesday, wrote five hate-filled blogs about Luciana Berger, the MP for Liverpool Wavertree, after Garron Helm was sent to prison for four weeks in October 2014.
The jury at the Old Bailey deliberated for just over one hour and 15 minutes before finding Bonehill-Paine guilty of racially aggravated harassment.

Fantastic news! This sets a tone because it makes clear that what the alt-right can get away with in the US they cannot get away with in the UK (or Europe!)

The free speech (at any expense) obsession isn’t *a thing* in the UK or EU.

It’s a double-edged sword. In Russia, opposition activists are routinely jailed for extremism using the exact same laws. But, I suppose, there can be a list of elements that delineates hate speech from criticism – e.g. death threats or advocating mass murder.

Definitely nice to see the tide turning, even if it’s just a little. Laws for humans are like society trying to herd cats, but they’re better than nothing at all.

I and my family lived in Liverpool from 1973 until 2013. We suffered the most horrific racism you can imagine. We lived in five areas over 40-years, namely Huyton, Croxteth, West Derby, Dovecot and Broadgreen. The violence occurred daily- our car was destroyed, our home smashed, my parents beaten, my brother put in hospital, my sister having a brick thrown through the window scraping her face and hitting the wall (she was two at the time). At just 11 years old I myself was abducted by two racist pupils from my school- West Derby Comprehensive and forced to go to a nearby desolate railway line for a beating- luckily a man helped me escape. Our family was tortured for forty years in Liverpool yet we got no help from the police or authorities. Luckily I got out of Liverpool, never to return. My last day in Liverpool, I was attacked by two men in a store- the police sigma unit said there was no evidence yet I went back to the store and checked and there was working CCTV. So an MP gets insulted and someone gets jailed- where’s the justice for our tormentors and the thousands like us that are still living in Liverpool- or do the courts only prosecute those who offend MPs?
