The Napoleon III building on Boulevard de Lattre de Tassigny is getting a face lift. It was for sale when we moved here, but the sign soon disappeared. I wonder if it’s turning back into a single family home, into apartments or into some sort of business? I remember the advertisement said it was ideal for apartments or offices.
Aren’t the children in the first picture fantastic? I wonder if one of them was a resident of number 42? We’re just a few houses down on the other side of the street.
and here are some pictures of the neighbourhood. If you look closely at the 2nd picture you can get a glimpse of number 42 hiding to the left of Maison Vialars
What type of tree are they in the first photo?

You mean the ones that are no longer lining the boulevard?
I think they’re liriodendron tulipifera (tulip tree) because where there are trees left on sidewalks in this neighbourhood that’s what they seem to be.

Tulip trees? Never heard of them, and as far as I know, I can’t recall ever seeing trees like that before. Great avenue trees, though. Quite straight.

The flowers look like something from another planet. We have one in the garden.

I’ve got a Tulip Tree too – took ten years for the first flower to appear.

Ours is the height of a three story building 🙂

Show off! It’s not the size that counts. It’s the . . . er, . . . something else.

I can’t believe people put their cocks in windows for strangers to photograph. Things are done differently in France, I suppose. 🙂

Various styles of architecture on view….is that one fourth down on the right a Basque style or something more local?

It’s somewhat surreal. And yes, it is Basque. Or Neo-Basque? And there are stranger things. There’s a hacienda style mansion, some unusual art-deco and mid century affairs. And some of those turn of the century villas that mix 10 different styles.
