Almost 10 thousand euros per month?

Yep. It’s apparently true. President Hollande keeps a hairdresser on staff at the Élysée Palace at a cost to the taxpayer of €9,895 per month. This has been the case since 2012. The total is: 593,700 Euros.

I’d like to introduce Mr. Hollande to a machine I’ve got. It’s called the Babyliss Crew Cut and cost me €45 on ebay.

I haven’t spent money (or wasted time) on my hair ever since. Not to mention the added advantage of not being held prisoner in a chair in a hair salon while being forced into a conversation regarding things one has no interest in whatsoever. I don’t speak Kardashianese.

This is outrageous on so many levels. So many levels. Even Mrs. Thatcher with her elaborate mis en plis didn’t have a hairdresser on staff. What in the world is this person doing to Hollande’s hair anyway?

Great post, as usual, Mr. Merveilleux!

Socialism is always a boon for the Ruling Class.

seems like usual, SOM is having a bit of a disconnect. I do admit, I’d love to have a hairdresser on staff if I was ridiculously wealthy, because I do like having my hair washed for me. but I’d pay for it myself. And since I’m cheap, I’ve not gone to a hairdresser for years. Stick straight long hair does have its advantages. 🙂

    • I can understand a wealthy woman choosing to have her hair done frequently- but what can be done to a man’s short hair? Frequently?

Shucks, SOM, nice to see baseless personal attacks from a self-professed Christian. Are you taking lessons from your new BFF, Amanda?

I do have to wonder about you when you “like” my posts, which in the general vernacular, means you agree with them. And then you attack what is in the posts. Why do you display such disparate behavior?

And just how does socialism benefit the ruling class? If it is socialism, then there would be no overpaid hairdressers. It seems that someone is bastardizing the term.

That’s shocking. And I have to agree with SOM. Socialist party, for goodness sake.

But really, you really cut your own hair? I’m surprised. It looks like a high maintenance style. I haven’t been to a hairdresser in around 8 years, you can imagine the mess. I’m determined to go soon.

    • He’s an embarrassment.
And yes, I’ve cut my own hair for years. The sides are on the number 4 and the top on the number 6. In the gravatar picture it’s grown out. Usually it’s very short. And I also usually wear glasses…

Me too. $100 pair of clippers, no other expenses for the last 10 years!

After turning 40, I figured, there is not much to cut anyway. The whole thing takes 15 minutes. A $20 haircutter, a pair of scissors, a comb, and a hand-held mirror – that’s all it takes.

10,000 Euros a month for a hairdresser! That hairdresser must have other extended duties. That can’t just be for attending to the hair

Another case of Mme. Cresson’s dentist……
And wasn’t there one of his aides who used to have a man come to the Elysee to shine his shoes…?

Yeah, but you spend €9,895 per month on chandeliers and Lillies. I know, I know – your own money.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. According to Wikipedia, President Hollande has a female “domestic partner” (do the French not say “wife” any more?) and I don’t know if his hairdresser that he has on staff is also female or is a male. But either way, there’s the possibility he’s having an affair with the hairdresser (the French, they sleep with EVERYBODY), and he’s paying that exorbitant sum not for haircuts but as hush money.

Clippers for me a well, since I quit as a professional hairdresser.
Does the hairdresser cut other members of staff or exclusively the President?

Do you think this is how he has been, erm, lucky enough not to have a single grey hair?

What a stupid man to waste so much money – he could have spent it on art, or books, or even me. I’m always amazed at hairdressing costs, especially for men. I only spend £30-£35 every 3 months or so (one advantage of grey hair is no expensive dye costs), & husband persuaded me many years ago to cut what little hair he has as it would be cheaper. Perhaps I could cut M Hollande’s hair too? He could fly over to Nottingham, & I’d even give him tea & home made cakes on my good china, & it would still cost a lot less. One wonders what other expensive tastes he has.

Never mind the hair trimmer, can I get the guy using it instead? Oh, don’t tell Mark I said that.

There was a similar uproar over Michelle Obama’s hairdresser’s paycheck, six or seven years ago, but at least she has enough hair to work with. I’m quite happy cutting my own.
