Glorious weather!

03july (11)

It’s an absolutely gorgeous day. Life is good! The garden is coming along very nicely. The Medici vases I had made arrived a few days ago. I put two by the entrance door and two on the steps down to the garden. They look fantastic. I’m going to plant cestrum nocturnum (night jasmine) in the pair on the south side and daphne in the ones by the entrance door. I’ve put some old garden furniture we had left over from Villa l’Africaine on the steps… a pair of deck chairs and a table and chairs for afternoon drinks.

I had a brainwave for the chicken coop/chicken run area. I’m going to take advantage of the stone pillars and wrought iron arches (yes, these were very fancy chickens) and create a seating area with two Lutyens benches. Something along these lines:

Beautiful gardens and lovely photos. But oh the things we do for chickens. We moved an antique bird bath into the large chicken garden for them, so that they felt at home! They have their own garden, it’s about half an acre with trees of over 500 years old, plenty of shade, plenty of dappled sun and fenced on two sides by beautiful stone walls. They reward us with the most delicious eggs – the things we do for chickens!!!

    • Nowhere near as nice as your photos! Your last post is just one gorgeous scene after the next.
Here we’re getting rid of the chicken coop. We considered chickens but with three (not very well behaved) dogs we decided not to risk it. So now the challenge is to make something of the space 🙂

Beautiful photos! They transport me to another time and place, exactly as a garden should. Love seeing your vision coming alive!

What a pleasure it is to have a ray of sunshine in the form of such a happy post Mr Pink! Light to pierce the recent gloom. Beautiful all round and the rays have been on form here upon the Cloud too.

    • I’m seriously considering disallowing unpleasantness from my life. Mike says I’ve *fought the good fight* and now it’s time to put down arms. Whaddayathink?

Well, on the one hand, in some areas of life the light can sometimes only be truly be appreciated by looking into the darker corners. On the other hand, we can find ourselves being dragged down by the ankles away from contentment and joy by delving into said corners too often. On the other hand, (I’m using an alien for modelling purposes here of course), I think it will be a cold day in hell when you stop fighting for the rights of others and yourself to live in peace and experience tolerance and equality. It’s in your bones Mr Pink. And it is an admirable trait.

I understand Mike, he loves you and wants you to sit back and smell the flowers, and so you should, possibly a little more than you do at the moment I suggest, purely because you have asked this question at all. Everything in moderation, (barring dirty gin and Jack Daniels of course). Put yourself first a bit more and gather ye rosebuds. You don’t need to cut all the darkness out, just monitor your exposure to it. *nods*
