Pastor Steven Anderson, whose hate knows no bounds, celebrated the deaths of 50 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando in a 4-minute mini-sermon that cited the Bible as justification for why they needed to die. (And if it didn’t happen via a shooter, it should have happened by way of government execution.)

Darth,
If you aren’t surprised, then you don’t know anything about Christianity.

well, at least these idiots spew their hate in public so we know who they are. the pastor is a lovely example to show why everyone should be happy that US laws are secular.
Bets that SOM says something stupid? Or has he run away when it was pointed out to him that Christians aren’t any better than other theists , they just have been enjoying the secular law that they so revile?

…Earth to Club!
When was the last time a Christian walked into a night club and mass murdered 50+ of our LGBT brethren.

It’s great to see you ignoring what I’ve said, SOM. It’s extraordinarily telling that you refuse to answer my question. SOM, your god, via your bible, supposedly says that homosexuals should be murdered. Why do you not follow this command, SOM? Why is it that your bible makes the exact same claims as the Qu’ran and some Christians and some Muslims do exactly what it says murder gay people?
As Mr. M has pointed out, the reason you don’t is that your actions have been altered by the presence of secular law that will punish you for doing what your religion commands.
Christians have killed many people for their religion as have Muslims, Hindi, etc. I could ask you how many Muslims have bombed an abortion clinic or murdered a doctor. Shall we claim that all Christians are murderous bastards. It seems that some theists are murderous and their religion supports it. But again, if you want to deny what your bible says in it, please do so.

Christianity is about love, not hate.
Pastor Anderson is either an atheist plant or a total lunatic, neither of which are Christian.
Reality is that a member of the Muslim Islamic Jihad carried out their final solution for our LGBT brethren.

I can understand why you might want to distance yourself from this sort of person, but to suggest his values are not based upon a certain interpretation of Christianity is to mislead yourself.

Why does the religious right insist that homosexuals are all pedophiles? It’s not true. My straight maternal grandfather (who was married to my grandmother for 50 years & as far as I know, never had sex with men) raped me when I was ten years old. That’s what a pedophile does, sexually abuse children, not engage in sexual relationships with consenting adults. My grandfather was more a pedophile than the fifty people who died in the gay nightclub this weekend. The religious right is, as usual, dead wrong.

They have some form of obsession about it. They think the rest of us have the same obsession and that we will go all “ooh” and “aah” whenever they talk about pedophiles. It’s the argument from the “ick” factor.
It goes like this: “I feel homosexuals are icky, pedophiles are also icky. Homosexuals are clearly pedophiles”.
I once had a conversation with someone about why some people are homophobes (it’s completely alien to me). He told to me that they have the same ick factor that the rest of us have concerning pedophiles. My answer: “I don’t have an ick factor about pedophiles”. I simply lack any ick factor about most everything. I’m against child rape and abuse because it’s freaking child rape! To these religious bigots, child rape and homosexuality are equal issues, because they simply judge everything through the lens of ickiness. And they dare claim the moral highground . :-!
Then you have the homophobic homosexuals (of which there are many).
For them it’s more like this: “I felt a tingle in my dingaling when that guy walked past me. But I can’t be gay. I’m a good christian after all. *Cognitive dissonace makes mind explode* But the catholic church said homosexuality was the cause of that pedophile scandal didn’t they? That must mean gays only like little boys. Since I’m not a pedophile, that must mean, I’m not gay either. Phew. Glad I cleared that up.”
The last reason for this comparison is of course the simple one: It helps distort everything and makes people join them in their hate so that they can feel good about themselves. They consider lying to be a virtue as long as they can get away with it. These are the same people who will always claim homosexuality as unnatural, and get mad when someone shows the abundant evidence for the contrary. Lying is their bread and butter.

Well, as long as the religious right can feel good about themselves…that’s what really matters. Doesn’t matter that they’re wrong (wrong about the fact that homosexuals are icky, there’s nothing icky about what two consenting adults do), wrong to sit in judgment of others (somewhere in their Bible it says only God can judge)

I LOVE THAT!!! We should coin a term. Argumentum ad ickum (or ickfactorum ?) 😀

Fear of WHAT? That “the gays are coming to convert us”? I’d rather see gays at my door than jehovah’s witnesses…gays are better dressed & selling something people actually WANT.

I am pleased to see Youtube has taken the video down for violating its hate-speech policy. I watched it. It was not edifying. However Ted Cruz appeared on a platform with this man, or someone saying much the same. It is more mainstream than I would wish.

The pastor’s bigotry makes me sick to my stomach. If there were a god, a real and merciful god, that god would have taken this sick POS pastor out by abortion, before the pastor could ever speak for that god to spout such evil.

The man who murdered those beautiful people (in my simple mind) was attoning for his ‘sin’ of being gay the only way he knew how; his own little Jihad. It shows how destructive these archaic doctrines are. He would have done the same if he had been Christian.

Or perhaps he would have chosen conversion therapy instead. That seems to be enough of a little hell to atone for supposed sins. Islam doesn’t offer this self-flagellating out.
