Very little left to do in the 1 bedroom. By this time the mirror is probably up in the shower room but the floors will still take half a day. I’ve put all the kitchen cabinets together, so that’ll also be installed very quickly. That means the kid can move in this weekend.
In the larger apartments on the top floor, one bathroom is nearly done, the other is half done. As I mentioned, the work upstairs (apart from bathrooms) is mostly decorative. The one bedroom that’s nearly done was the hardest because it was fiddly. The living room in the street-side top floor apartment is getting new paint, new lighting and that’s it, right now it still looks like this:
Once all the major things are done, it all comes together very quickly. I’m still hopeful all the (6) pre-existing apartments will be done by the end of February and we can move on to (number 7) the big ground floor space.
Honestly, I don’t know how you and Mike can work on so many things at the same time. But I guess you will also complete all of the apartments, more or less at the same time, which is fantastic. Can hardly wait to see the finished product[s].

It’s my fault. I’m the psycho who (always) takes on too much, all at the same time, so then Mike has to swoop in to save me 😀 He keeps telling me that this is it, this is the last time. But I know this is how I keep him young and vibrant.

Oh great, finally some update pics 🙂
Top row, right pic, is that a hot water heater in that closet (without a door)?
What room is that in the kitchen?
Basic bath, tiny space not many options. However if you can possibly install 2 shelves on the wall to the left of the sink that would give some storage space for toiletries. I know this was already in the plan, just not installed yet, right?

We stole that closet space from the apartment next door 🙂 It’s going to serve two purposes, housing the water heater (which used to be in the kitchen) and also a washing machine. None of the apartments had space for washing machines.
In the bathroom there’s going to be a cupboard under the sink and two sets of shelves 🙂

Hate cupboards under sinks. Shelves are much nicer. Hate cupboards generally. Ruin the proportions of rooms. Hey, but your properties.

btw, the kid is a very nice 19 y/o boy who’s waiting to move in. He’s currently doing an apprenticeship as a painter/decorator- so far he’s been a perfect tenant.

A French boyfriend I had was a decorator. Still lived at home so I couldn’t stay with him 😦
How can he be a perfect tenant if he’s waiting to move in? Free decorating? 😀

He’s living in one of the unreformed apartments.

Washing machine hook-ups are AWESOME! Huge improvement!
But what room is the hot water heater closet in? You said you stole the space from the other apartment but you didn’t say what room it’s in.
I am so glad roughtseasinthemed spoke up. I agree a cabinet under the sink is a PIA. What is wrong with 2 or better yet 3 shelves to the left of the sink, you have the wall space. Just use glass shelves, simple glass shelves with an unobtrusive clamp holder to clamp onto the glass or shelf holder. Guarantee you your tenants are going to install their own and then you are stuck with it. I would, there is minimal counter top space right at the sink you really need shelves right there at the sink.
People are not going to want to bend down under the sink to get out their deodorant and hair stuff. They want it handy, as we all do.
If glass shelves were not there I would put them in myself. I’m gonna drill right through the new tile after living there a while, I can only put up with inconvenience for a limited length of time.
Geeze I hope I don’t get banned from this blog.

-giggles- I have no space for shelves so all my day to day stuff sits on the counter. Very inelegant but functional. 🙂

I wish I had even half of your energy – I have a list of essentials to be done in our house this year & have no idea when I’m going to start them.

The trick is to just start, even if you don’t finish. Make a cup of tea, take a walk around the house, and then start with the easiest project 😀
