They just scream number 42!!!
Just got a pair of amazing candle sconces. HUGE! 85cm x 75cm (that’s 33 by 29 inches.) They’re going to be absolutely perfect for number 42. I’ve been having a hard time finding things that are big enough so they don’t just disappear on the walls. These definitely qualify. I might leave them with the natural rusty brown look, or I might try vert-de-gris (verdigris, as they say in English), or maybe even black and gold like the stairs balustrade.

Looks beautiful. I love verde , in my last house in the enclosed 3 season porch I put in all verde light fixtures.
Absolutely agree that the massive size is going to look great. Now have to think about the candles to put on it.

Ah… that makes sense. Here in the land of drywall, studs are rarely evenly spaced from doorways and fireplaces and so hanging heavy objects can be very challenging. And that thing looks heavy!

I used to be able to find objects on this scale quite easily in the eighties and nineties when a number of large family houses came on the market as the inheritors preferred the money to the house and sold off the contents.
It became more difficult later ….the prices rocketed, too….but scouring the house clearers’ barns could bring dividends.
