I wanted to add another comment to mine above, but I’ve just got a new (French) keyboard (spilled coffee on my laptop) and can’t seem to get the question mark or the quotations to work. . anyway, have switched to my ipad.
Years ago (would have been in the mid-80’s I’m thinking) I was in a department store with all four of our children (our eldest is same as you, Mr. M!) Anyway, whichever one could read at the time noticed the signs at the end of the toy aisles. (It must have one of the first two girls) She indignantly said, “Mummy! There’s no such thing as boys’ toys and girls’ toys!”
. . .sigh. . . at least that’s not happening anymore. But I see that there’s pink lego. . .eyeroll. . .. the only thing our own ever heard was, “All toys are for all kids”

I sell a product called “Time Off” that helps greatly with this problem. It’s a soap that you use to wash the time off your hands, and, once you do, you’ll find yourself busy as a bee doing things like painting the living room, walking the dog, curing cancer, and helping the poor by building, and working in, numerous soup kitchens around the world. I’ll send you some for Christmas, once I find the time. I’ve been quite busy since inventing this product.

Anyone who drinks and smokes as much as I do doesn’t last too long (except Churchill and Jaime Ortiz-Patino) so I want to get as much done as possible.

My French is incredibly bad, but I got the message and could even understand some of the statements. A really awesome message.

Here in the States, someone thought to make Legos pink to market them to girls, and a debate ensued over whether girls required pink/different Legos than boys, and/or whether or not girls really want to play with Legos. The adults were more concerned with the pink Legos than the children.
The boy who plays with dolls isn’t necessarily gay, at 3 years old (do 3 year olds even know gay, straight, bi-cirious, and so on and so forth?) so the adults need to get over themselves.

That’s just super! Now Super U need to station staff on the toys area to marmelise grandmas buying toy cookers for their grand daughters and toy farms for their grandsons.

I think the message of this French advertisement comes through loud and clear – like a mime – but just in case it doesn’t, the kids are talking about the kinds of toys they like or feel they /should/ like. Then they’re allowed loose in a room stuffed with toys and told to play with whatever they feel like playing with.
The result is that girls play with ‘machinery’ type toys and boys play with stereotypically girls toys. And the advert says that Shop U has created a catalogue without bias to make the world a better place.
I don’t know how much of this is manipulated for the cameras, but I love the idea behind it anyway. Enjoy. 😀

My two elementary-aged kids (a boy and a girl) play with toys stereotypically belonging to both genders. Not because I made them — I just let them play with what they were interested in (like in the video).
