Bedroom progress

The bedside chests are mirrored, art-deco style. The bedding is Christian Lacroix

Lamps arrived- still waiting on the Tibetan rug. Haven’t decided which paintings go where. We also got a circa 1810 Napoleon I gondola divan for the dogs. It needs to be recovered, perhaps in kilim, it also needs more cushions. As dog beds go I think it’ll be rather elegant.

Update: The rug has just arrived.

The rug looks much nicer on your photos. Totally different tints. Is that Rudy on there? Probably why it looks better 😉

But those lit lamps are not amethyst. Cerise! Told you it was cherries.

Are you putting any drapes on the bed? We had some on ours and checked them in the end. Toooooo hot.

You were right about the lamps. When they arrived I thought I’d pack them up and return them, but a day later and I’m getting more used to the colour.
Mike thinks we should drape the bed. I’m not sure yet…

I’m always right. As are you. Our four poster is wooden. It worked well with sheer curtains for mosquitoes and serious curtains in winter. Just too much of a pain in the end. Yours looks bleak. I would suggest partial drapes?

Just at head? That might work. P.S. Rudy’s on the bed, Morgan’s on the rug…

Of course, Rudy is the bod type. Just glanced and didn’t even see Rudy on the bed 😦 bods are like Pods. See bed …

Yeah, basically, half drapes round the back and coming in slightly round the side. I can see Mike’s point. He comes from Wales. It’s wet and cold. My partner is jumping up and down at boring old rugby World Cup as Wales beat England 😦

And then they beat Fiji 🙂 We’re in rugby-territory here. It’s the first time in Mike’s life where when someone reads or hears his surname they react with “wow, you’re Welsh!”

Don’t tell me. He went to a pub last night to watch it. (No TV)

Then he had a conversation today with someone about it. I mean, rugby is ok, but that’s it. Boring after five minutes. Trouble is A comes from Pontypool. At some point they provided the front row for Wales. He’s hoping they might win group A or even the cup.

I agree with Rough Seas about partial drapes. Dare I ask why get a 4 poster if you don’t want any drapes? The dogs make me smile, you go to the expense of getting them a delightful bed & it’s ignored. That’s just typical. Morgan looks as though he’s deliberately positioned himself so somebody will fall over him.

That’s his trick ALL DAY LONG. If I’m cooking he lays down behind me, when I get up from the sofa he’s right there waiting to trip me. My evil sense of humour must be contagious 🙂

I have learned never to think I know the right names for colours (is there a career where one gets to name colours… like ‘Tahitian Sunset’, and ‘Mustard’?). I would be so much happier and capable if colours were known by some standardized numbering system alone.

As I’ve just discovered, even the standardized number system isn’t accurate.
I have a Spanish colour book, each time I’ve taken a number to a shop in France to have paint mixed I’ve gotten a different shade, same colour, but different shade. Nightmare.

A Napoleon I gondola divan for the dogs. OK, it’s official. Your dogs live better than I do, that’s surreal, and I expected nothing less. You HAVE TO drape the bed.. I’m soooooooooo jealous of anyone who has their bed draped, I guess because my bed isn’t draped. It’s a sleigh bed, which is interesting in its own right, but it’s not draped (because my mother, when she was living here, in her infinite wisdom opted to put a goddamn ceiling fan, and I’m afraid the whole ceiling will cave in if I have it removed)

Dammit, Pinky! I’d be happy with your dogs’ bed. :/ The bedroom is lovely too.

I think that you need to drape the bed…it’s a bit bald as is…Otherwise why have the uprights….

  7. Boy the floor is gorgeous. Was it in that good of condition when you bought it?
Well since everyone is commenting on the bed, I think it would look nice if you draped the top of the bed, and then extended it down behind the head of the bed, all the way down to the floor. My vision would be to leave the foot of the bed, and sides of the bed open and un draped but drape the to and head of the bed.

I’m not one for a lot of fru-fru but I do agree the bed looks a little forlorn with nothing. A nice brocade perhaps? Would you go contemporary or strictly classic? Can’t see the design of the bedspread in the pics but if you have invested in Lacroix you probably don’t want to change that so that will dictate what you would chose for draping.
