Mazamet from Above

Just found a great site that shows Mazamet from above. It’s obviously only great because I can see the house ๐Ÿ™‚ There’s a very easy way to find it on aerial shots which is to look for the church. It’s on the same block as the church, but at the following corner.

The council couldn’t find the money to finish the steeple?

      Or should that be “spires”?

It’s a protestant church, they like to be different ๐Ÿ™‚

You should help organise a fund to complete it, like they did for St Mary’s in Sydney. You’d be a town hero!

There are four churches in town. The one here on the street is the smallest. I think enough money has already been spent in that direction ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t mean your money… Other people’s money, which you help pool. I watched St Mary’s being done, and it was fascinating. They shipped in actual stone masons from around the world and they worked in the open beside the church, tapping away, lifting each stone, one by one.

The Big Red Arrow looks like something for an old Monty Python sketch.

The town looks quite pretty. Nice to see so many trees as well.

The natural landscape is wonderful. We’re in a valley just under the Montagne Noir, so whenever one looks up, there’s the green.

You life in a beautiful city which citizens can be proud of. I am proud that parts of Santa Fe have remained true to our cities Indigenous People’s, Spanish Persons’ and Anglos’ cultural heritage. Sadly the outskirts have the same mix of chain stores and restaurants that are part of every corner of the USA.

What a lovely town, and what a great location for your house. Just keep an eye out for that tower. :p

I see it from the garden, from my bedroom and from the bathroom ๐Ÿ™‚ And it rings every hour!

lol – You’re safe then, but perhaps you might invest in ear plugs? Seriously, does the sound becoming annoying after a while, like the very loud tick of a clock?

Fortunately, the opposite! First month I was counting every time the bell rang (once for each hour, noon means twelve rings). In Spain the only noise was our dogs barking at annoying tourists trying to look into the garden. After a few months, I’ve tuned it out completely. The dogs however seem to know how to count; they get up and know it’s time for food at 7 rings, then they know it’s time for food again at five rings.

Wait… you mean the bell rings through the night as well? In that case those first few months must have been hell. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
When we first moved to this house, our next door neighbour kept chickens, on the same side of the house as my bedroom. The bloody rooster woke me every morning, to the point where I was ready to ring its neck myself. I did get used to it eventually but getting to that point was pure misery.

They stop from midnight to 7am. Our neighbour has chickens too! One of them somehow climbs on the wall which then causes dog barking armageddon. If it ever falls this side, nothing good will happen! I’ve warned them…

That’s a relief. I was imagining you tossing and turning all night. I guess you never get to sleep in past 7am any more?

I do! I have terrible trouble getting to sleep, but then I wake up every hour anyway, so I’m used to it ๐Ÿ™‚

Ugh that’s awful. Anything less than 7 hours and I feel like a zombie. Does hard physical exercise help at all?
