My theory for buying furniture for the new house was it was all going to be different. The furniture was going to be oversized this time around. No more being squashed into corners because of the dogs.
The sofas in the study can seat four people each, there are big armchairs in every room; and yet here I am, on a ledge reminiscent of the ledges I’ve been allocated by dogs for much of my life. I suppose I should be thankful they’re not trying to sit on the laptop while I’m typing, for now, anyway.
At least we know our place in the scheme of things. Had it been cats they’d be teaching us whether we needed it or not.

Since Little Dog arrived, Big Dog rarely jumps on the sofa, although that may be due to his ageing back legs, and my hogging of it due to broken ankle. Little Dog can take up a large sofa all on his own, which is most odd. And when I’m on it, he just lies on me anyway. He’s currently nestled on my feet.
I admire the way they make themselves comfortable with a natural assumption.

At least all the dogs are sharing – a cat would simply stretch & stretch to take over all the sofa space. Animals have the knack of choosing the comfiest furniture, at least from my experience. We once looked after a Doberman for a few weeks, & she soon decided ‘my’ chair was now hers, even though she was somewhat squashed when sitting on it.

The chihuahua cross has to be lifted onto the furniture. Sadly the same cannot be said of the cats. I don’t mind when they sprawl on the furniture meant for sitting, but I do get a tad annoyed when multiple cats sit on my desk, jostling for space and completely blocking my view of the screen.

Beautiful! The one (or is it two) in the middle is (are) the colors of our Callie. What breeds are they? What are their names? 🙂
