Gentleman of the Camellias

 

That’s an array of camellia petals covering the ground in our new garden. Just extraordinary. Mazamet is known for Camellias, especially the variety known as the Japonica Mazamet of which we have quite a few in the garden. It looks like this:

I’ve been working on gathering information on the house as it was when it was built, and found this amusing description of it in an old book on stately homes in the region:

It’s funny how attitudes change with time. The author of the book says the space reserved for the hall is minimal. Does this look minimal?

Oh, and we bought another house in the centre of town. They’ve accepted our offer and we signed a private contract, now we sign at the notary on Monday. It’s divided into three apartments, two 3 bedrooms and a one bedroom, each one with its own little garden.  All already rented. When/if I can make time for it later this year, I’m going to have it repainted in fresher/happier colours.

 

We’re also looking at little blocks of flats, nothing too big. I’m not posting pictures of them yet, as I learnt from the previous blog that keeping my mouth shut in regards to business is a very good idea- at least until deals are closed.
